Public Education Reform in America: Teaching Methods?

In America, we spend billions of dollars on education in America and it seems that we still have failing schools and failing students.

What we need to do is go back to teaching methods that were successful in the old days.  We also need to change our public school curriculum to what worked in the past.  In other words, we need to go back to the basics of education with today's technology of course.  This is reading, writing and arithmetic.  Wait until high school to teach computers.

Yes.  Right now, we have a curriculum that demands students to be like the Japanese and not America.  Can America be like Japan?  In some ways economically yes.

Government Budget and Spending Reform

At this point in American history, we have to take bold and structural changes to our budget and government.

Why don't we consolidate the Department of Veterans Affairs with the Department of Defense.  We could do that.  Why not?

I also think we need to consolidate the other Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, HUD and the rest.  The new department would be called the Department of Homeland Services.  This would eliminate a lot of Bureaucracy in the government.

Healthcare Coverage Reform in America

With Medicaid costs rising we need to reform healthcare coverage in America for the uninsured and underinsured.

I propose a reform system that shifts taxation to sales.  We could have a 6% national sales tax and get rid of the marriage penalty and the Medicare payroll tax.  Then get rid of Medicare and Medicaid as we know it to help balance the budget and reduce the deficit.

With these changes, we could have one healthcare program that helps the underinsured and uninsured.  Then we could make it a monthly premium system which could financially stabilize the government and keep coverage.

This program would only be for people who are unemployed, disabled, retired, uninsured or underinsured.  This would make the budget smaller and less complicated.

If their disabled or unemployed we could deduct $30 out of their welfare check to pay the monthly premium.  It would make healthcare funding more solvent and reduce the deficit.

Job Interview tips today

Job interviews are tough today.  It can be frustrating for you.

If you're done with school, bring your school projects to show your skills.  If you have a website, bring a printout to the interview.  This will show your competence.

If you don't have a website, develop a personal website with your prospects.  Then print it out and bring to interviews.  This will show initiative.

Always ask what the next step is.  This will show that you want the job.

Bring your college transcript to show your credentials.

Make sure your online work is all professional including your social media.

Finally, develop and keep a portfolio notebook with all the printouts I said.
